Welcome Message from the EDIA Office

At Olive View, your professional journey will include being part of a collective mission to advance health equity. As a safety net and public healthcare institution, we acknowledge that many in our resilient community have not received the care they deserve and need. All too often, folks come to Olive View with health conditions that are directly linked to historic and ongoing systemic injustices, including racism, nativism, classism, environmental injustice, and other structural barriers to health and wellbeing. This is a reality we are committed to rectifying by working toward a more anti-racist and equitable healthcare system.

We know that to succeed in our mission, we need every member of our team, including our trainees, to join our collaborative effort toward health equity.  This is why our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism team (EDIA) is committed to fostering a learning and working culture that practices inclusive diversity so that everyone feels welcome and can thrive here at Olive View. A few ways we nurture this culture are through holistic recruitment approaches, curricular training on evidence-based tools to combat bias, celebration of our diversity in collaboration with community partners, and fostering interdisciplinary relationships and mentorship across our system.

Our journey toward equity is ongoing, and we strive for transparency in identifying our shortcomings. By creating various avenues for engaging curiosity, self-reflection, and discussion, we hope to learn from diverse ideas for promoting a humble and accountable health system that supports us all. That includes the voices of our trainees.  Our entire EDIA team welcomes your part in promoting the health equity of our Olive View community. We hope that your experience here will sustain your professional growth and commitment to creating a more equitable world.
