Olive View–UCLA Medical Center is the proud sponsoring institution for five programs:
Internal Medicine
The Olive View- UCLA Medicine Residency training program is devoted to the medical needs of our underserved communities, emphasizing holistic care while addressing the external determinants of health in our diverse patient population. Residents train in Internal Medicine through the three-year categorical or one-year preliminary medicine track, rotating through multiple clinical sites. Internal Medicine residents will spend most of their training time at Olive View- UCLA Medical Center while also rotating through Ronald Reagan – UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica- UCLA Medical Center and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. The Internal Medicine faculty at Olive View are well known for their clinical and evidenced based teaching, making us one of the most popular sites for training at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
Psychiatry
The Olive View- UCLA Psychiatry Residency Training Program is a community-based, county-supported, and academically oriented program which aims to provide our residents with an outstanding education of great breadth and depth. This is done in multiple settings where residents gain mastery in caring for patients from a diversity of backgrounds. Communication, collaboration, and community are the pillars that guide the mission of our program. Our residents rotate through a variety of clinical settings, including Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health clinics, inpatient wards and psychiatric emergency room at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, and the student counseling center at California State University in Northridge.
Hematology/Oncology
The Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center is a fully integrated, three-year program that offers comprehensive clinical training in hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplantation. The fellowship training program boasts a 100% subspecialty board examination pass rate in Hematology and Oncology. Our graduated fellows place in competitive jobs in highly desirable locations in both the academic and private setting.
Nephrology
Fellows in the Nephrology fellowship at Olive View- UCLA Medical Center are provided with a wide breadth of clinical experiences at Olive View and UCLA. We provide a friendly and academically rigorous environment that allows fellows to achieve a high level of competence in all areas of Nephrology. Be taught by faculty who have written books on key Nephrology topics, gain experience with kidney transplant, become well versed in outpatient dialysis care and serve a diverse patient population in our outpatient clinics. Our fellows are well equipped to enter the field of Nephrology regardless of practice setting.
Rheumatology
The Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program at Olive View- UCLA Medical Center provides holistic care to patients with diverse language, cultural and economic backgrounds. Fellows will care for patients with the full spectrum of connective tissue disease with additional rotations in orthopedics, physical therapy, and pediatric rheumatology to enhance overall training. The strong didactic program, 1:1 faculty mentorship and emphasis on bedside teaching attracts applicants from across the country.
